

Lois Y Byerly, 93, died on Feb. 15, 2011. She was born on July 17, 1917 to Ora and William Yokley. On November 17, 1940 she married Milford H. Byerly, now deceased. She is survived by Marilynn Byerly of the home, Joni Byerly Emmerling and her husband, Dr. David Emmerling of Greenville, NC; grand-daughter Erin Emmerling of Atlanta and grandson Dane Emmerling of Chapel Hill; her son Dr. W. Boyce Byerly and grandsons Cameron, Blake, and Alexei Byerly of Durham; and a sister, Mrs Violet Beasley of Valparaiso, Florida. Her sons, Mickey and Don Byerly, preceded her in death.
Partnering with her husband, she ran Milford Byerly's. She was a member of Wesley Memorial, the Adult Sunday School Class, and the Marthas. As a volunteer, she worked with the Red Cross bloodmobile for 20 years and with The Friends of the High Point Theatre, and she has been a guiding force to BSA Troop One. An accomplished porcelain artist and a member of the N.C. Porcelain Artist Association, she studied painting at The Senior Center in High Point.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, 27262. The memorial service will be in the Chapel of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point at 2:00 pm on Saturday the 19th, with a reception in the Asbury Room following. Her ashes will be interred next to those of her husband in the columbarium at the church.
