Born to Roger and Lillian Griffith on December 4, 1920 in High Point, she enjoyed a close relationship with her two sisters, Ruth and Betty Griffith. Louise and her late husband, Raymond, lived in High Point for most of their lives, spending nearly 15 years before retirement in Cheraw, SC. She was a graduate of High Point College and worked as a bookkeeper at Adams Millis for many years.
A devout Christian, she led an upright life of integrity. She lived it. Her life is an example to all who knew her. She will be missed by her church family at Covenant Church United Methodist in High Point.
Her legacy lives on in her sisters Ruth Griffith and Betty Griffith, daughter, Jane Elliott Goforth, son-in-law Norbert (Susan) Smoot, granddaughters Meghan Goforth, Lauren (Brian) Goforth Riggan and Emily (Robert) Smoot Smith, and great granddaughters Emma and Rylee Riggan and Charlotte and Elizabeth Smith, all of whom will miss her bravery, humility and goodness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Elliott and daughter Rebecca Elliott Smoot.
The family is grateful to the caregivers at GrayBrier in Trinity; thank you for remembering Louise was our family and for caring for her as though she were a member of yours.
She loved peanuts, cheese and a good pot of beans almost as much as she loved Wake Forest basketball. Please join the family to share your memories of Louise on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Sechrest Funeral Service on Lexington Avenue in High Point. A celebration of her life will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the interment at Floral Garden Park cemetery in High Point.
