Margaret was born in Charlotte, NC on February 1, 1919, a daughter of D.A. (Bud) Hargett and Lenora Jane Hagler Hargett. She was employed by the U.S. Treasury as a finance officer until her retirement in March 1974. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Canavan, her parents, D.A. (Bud) Hargett and Lenora Jane Hagler Hargett, six sisters and two brothers.
Surviving are a brother Van Hargett and many nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
