

Mr. Jones was born on June 10, 1927 in Trion, GA, a son to the late Marvin C. Jones, Sr. and Lillie Mae Ridley Jones. In August of 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, having served as an Aerial Gunner. In June of 1948, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Paratrooper, where he faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict. He later achieved the rank of Colonel, continuing his military career until his retirement in 1978.
In 1949, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Georgia in Athens. One year later, he earned his Master of Business Administration, also from the University of Georgia. For many years, he worked as the Director of Industrial Relations for Ladd Furniture in High Point. Mr. Jones was also a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Robye Baker Jones of the home; three sons, Marty Jones of New York, NY, Bob Jones and wife Beth of Kingsport, TN, and Brad Jones and wife Terri of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Griffin, Parker, Kate and Emily; one great granddaughter, Emerson; and sister, Magge Gaylor of Summerville, GA.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am Monday, June 12, 2017 at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church, 836 W. Lexington Ave., High Point, with Rev. Joe Blankenship officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Forest Hills Presbyterian Church in memory of Marvin Jones.
