Mary was born December 25, 1935 in High Point, North Carolina the youngest child of late Ila O’Brien and C.W. Wall. On March 23, 1957, she married Franklin H. Wood, Jr. who preceded her in death. On August 4, 2007, she married Dr. Robert Key Arthur who survives of the home.
Mary was a deeply spiritual woman and an active member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she served in the Chancel Choir. She was a devoted volunteer in the Church and community. As the owner of Mary’s Potpourri and Needlework Shop, she is remembered for her creative sewing talents. She was a sustaining member of the High Point Junior League.
Mary is survived by her son Franklin H. Wood, III, daughter Melissa “Lissa” Wood Albany, grandchildren Joseph M. Albany, Jr. and Andrew H. Albany, all of High Point; and brother David R. Wall, and his wife Carol, of Pinehurst, NC.
Mary was preceded in death by her sister Betty Lois Wall Watson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, April 25 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1225 Chestnut Drive in High Point. Visitation will follow the service in the Asbury Room of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Fund at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
