HIGH POINT – Matthew Steven Robertson, age 34, tragically passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from a work related accident.

A public graveside service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Floral Garden Park Cemetery, 1730 W. English Road, High Point, NC. Due to Covid-19 concerns there will be no formal visitation.

Matthew was born May 17, 1986 and grew up in Rockingham County. He was the son of Johnny Moore Robertson of Southport, NC and Brenda Klubert Wilson & Keith Wilson of Eden, NC.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his bride of 18 months and the love of his life, Lindsay Swaim Robertson; a brother, Mark Robertson; parents-in-law, Ed & Jayn Safrit Swaim; Lindsay’s maternal grandmother, Betty Safrit, all of High Point; a special aunt, India Davis whom he loved dearly; and his one and only fur-baby, Zoey.

Matthew was employed at the Alderman Company for over 9 years, where he and Lindsay first met. He graduated with honors from GTCC in Business Administration and was enrolled this fall to pursue his Bachelors degree at UNCG.

He was a diehard Duke Blue Devils fan and avid New York Giants fan. Matthew especially enjoyed the music of Zack Brown and Justin Timberlake. He was quiet by nature, but was filled with love and compassion. Matthew was gifted with the ability to work with his hands, whether by carpentry skills or working in the yard. He was most blessed with his accurate knowledge of the scriptures too.

In Matthew’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to: The Humane Society of the Piedmont, 4527 W. Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27409.

Lindsay and all family members, my heart is breaking for all of you. I had the privilage of knowing Matt and working with him at The
Alderman Co. for all the years he was there and I truly can say, I have never met a more caring, polite, mannerly and all around nice young man. Who truly loved his bride and was proud to show everyone. Lindsay I will keep you in my prayers and ask God to heal your broken heart by letting you know that Matt is with him and together they will watch over you. Love you sweetie. Rachel Armondi.

I had the honor of working with "Matt Rob" as we called him. I don't have all the words to say was a fine young man he was. I don't remember not seeing that sweet smile of his and those dimples!!! I know his parents are very proud to have raised such a fine young man. Lindsay was lucky to have found him as he was her. You will be missed my sweet "Matt Rob"

Matthew was my son. The light of my life. The treasure. The pearl. So very bright successful a beautiful young man taken away by God too soon.
Today my heart is breaking and my soul is crushed. My life will never be the same. I know Matthew would want me to go forward to live my life fully just as he did. I asked God everyday why? Why? But I know his will is supreme and his will is the best direction. Prayers are needed to get me through the rest of my life while he enjoys his eternal life.
Johnny Robertson, proud dad of a wonderful young man.

Bartending at TGJFridays with Matt. Fantasy football and trash talking all season! Matt will truly be missed. We can’t believe just a few months ago we were planning a cookout and starting up the Fantasy Football league again! Our thoughts and prayers go to his wife and family during the difficult time.
