Morton Wesley Huber, aged,101, passed away on July 28, 2024, in High Point, NC. Born on July 12, 1923, in Baltimore, he was a cherished member of the community and a revered figure in both academic and artistic circles. Morton graduated from Forest Park High School and went on to further his education at Johns Hopkins and Cornell University Medical College. His academic journey paved the way for a distinguished career in education. He served as a professor of chemistry at Emory and Henry College and later at Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Kanazawa, Japan. His profound contributions to the arts were recognized when he was elected a fellow in the British Royal Society of Arts.
In addition to his academic and artistic pursuits, Morton was a dedicated serviceman, serving as a US Navy Ensign in the Pacific theatre during World War II.
Morton was a member of the First United Methodist Church in High Point, NC. His hobbies included oil and watercolor painting, many of which are owned by museums at Johns Hopkins, Wake Forest University, Kanazawa Institute, York College, University of Colorado and High Point University. Morton had a passion for lacrosse.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Kyoko Ushio Huber, along with numerous students, colleagues, and friends who were touched by his dedication, kindness, and intellect.
A memorial service for Morton will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, 512 North Main Street, High Point, North Carolina 27260.
