

Nancy McMillan Johnson Blanchard, age 80, passed away at River Landing at Sandy Ridge, Colfax, NC on Thursday, June 14, 2012. A memorial service and celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 3pm.
Nancy, daughter of Berta Butler Johnson and E.D. Johnson, was born October 27, 1931 in Marshville, NC. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her brother, James William Johnson. She graduated from Meredith College with a Business Administration degree and a minor in voice. A resident of High Point for over 50 years her working career included various sales positions in the High Point furniture industry, and a Realtor for over 10 years within the High Point and Greensboro area. Volunteer community activities included the High Point Junior League, Literary League, Till and Toil Garden Club, Jump Start through Communities in School, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Backpack Food Program, and Mobile Meals.
Nancy was an active and devoted member to Forest Hills Presbyterian Church for 48 years where she had many close friends and enjoyed serving on many committees.
Being a dedicated choir member, she took great pleasure in singing for others. She loved to cook for her family and friends and many looked forward to her generous gifts of homemade vegetable beef soup and cheese straws, especially around the holidays.
Nancy took great pride in her Scottish heritage and ancestry and traveled to Scotland several times. She was a proud member of the NC Chapter of Clan McMillan and always enjoyed attending the local Scottish Highland Games.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Laurel Edwards and husband John of Cincinnati, Ohio, Nancy LaMuraglia and husband Jamie of Greensboro, NC, and three grandchildren - John Douglas Edwards, Thomas and Annie LaMuraglia, as well as many cousins and friends whom she loved and cherished.
Nancy was a shining example of strength, courage, dignity and grace throughout her life. Her family continues to appreciate and hold dear the kind and attentive staff at Health Care Rehabilitation Center at River Landing. Their love and care given to Mrs. Blanchard throughout her illness has been a great comfort to her family.
