Mrs. McBride was born in High Point, March 24, 1924, a daughter of the late James Maynard and Annie Blair Kennedy. She was married to M. R. “Mac” McBride, who died in 2001. They made their home at the coast following their retirement. She was also preceded in death by seven siblings.
Surviving are a daughter, Bridgett Blatz and husband Bill of Monroe; two sons, M.J. “Pete” McBride and wife Gorland of Wake Forest and Denis McBride and wife Connie of Pensacola, FL; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Kennedy of Sophia.
A Celebration of Opal’s Life will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by Pastor Denis McBride. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service. Opal’s remains will be interred at a later date at Murrell’s Inlet where she and Mac lived and loved. Memorials may be directed to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
