Larry was born in Durham County on February 14, 1945 a son of the late Bill Rhew and Mary Hopkins. He was a proud Marine Corp Veteran, and was a truck driver, retiring from Harris Teeter after 28 years of service. Larry was preceded in death by his step father, James Vanhoy, and two brothers, Sam Hopkins and Michael Vanhoy.
Survived are his wife of 49 years Elsie Staley Hopkins; a daughter Melissa Sink and husband Gregory; grandchildren Rachel Quezada, Gail Sink and Nick Sink; great grandchild Tyler Sink; three sisters Judy Vanhoy, Billie Rhew and Debra Pugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Larry’s request, no formal services will be held.
