

Bobby was born in Smithfield, September 27, 1936, a son of the late Roscoe and Gladys Eason Jones. He was employed by Leggett and Platt, retiring after 38 years of service. Bobby was an avid pool player in his younger days and enjoyed gardening and jigsaw puzzles. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and was preceded in death by a brother, Jessie Jones and a grandson, Christopher Bowman. Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Rachel Marie Messer Jones; a daughter, Cynthia Hemric and her husband Hoyt of Thomasville; two sons, Earl Jones and wife Karen of Trinity and Robert Jones, Jr. and wife Tonya of High Point; a sister, Mildred Reilly and husband Dick of Wytheville, VA; a brother, Waylon Jones and wife Margaret of Saint Pauls; four grandchildren, Shaun Bowman, Tiffany Tuberville, Robin Emmons and Robert “Robbie” Jones, III; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bobby’s life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Robert Walker. Burial will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m.
