

Mac was born on May 10, 1940 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Ladson and Eloise Bishop McAbee. He retired from Big Star Food Stores after 30 years of service and later worked in landscaping. Mac especially enjoyed deer hunting, NASCAR, bird watching, and target shooting. He was also a member of GracePoint church in High Point.
Surviving are his wife of over 54 years, Ellen McAbee of the home; three daughters, Deborah McAbee Hall and her husband Charles of Randleman, Anita Sams and her husband Chris of Greensboro, Karen Mazzarella and her husband Charles of England; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Diane Wilson and Judy Linkenhoker; brother, Freddie McAbee; and his beloved dog Buddy and cat Lucy.
A celebration of Mac’s life will be held at 2 pm Thursday at GracePoint Church, 214 Welch Ave, High Point with Pastor Terry Austin officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday at Davis Funerals and Cremations, 976 Phillips Ave., High Point.
