
Born on December 21, 1922 in Guilford County to Beverly H. and Pearl L. Bradner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Howard Bradner and Beverly H. Bradner, Jr., and one sister, Elizabeth Bradner Hutchins. After working with his father at Bradner & Kennedy Furniture & Hardware Store and then the Fred Ingram Furniture Store he took his first job as freight elevator operator with Tomlinson of High Point in June, 1940. At the age of 25 he had the position of superintendent and general manager at the North State Manufacturing Company in Thomasville, NC. He later worked at Henredon-Schoonbeck Furniture where he was vice president and later retired in 1986 after 28 years of service. On May 8, 1954, he married Helen Hepler Mitchell and they had two daughters, Joy and Bonnie. He married Doris P. Bradner on October 9, 1981. He was president of the Furniture City Chapter of the American Business Club, a member of High Point Country Club, director of High Rock Lake Association and member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. His favorite past-times included golfing with friends, and fishing, both at High Rock Lake and the North Carolina coast. At least one of his famous fishing stories was recorded in the High Point Enterprise in an article written by Forrest Cates.
Survivors include his wife Doris Page Bradner; daughters, Joy Bradner Hughes and husband Doug and Bonnie Bradner Wallace and husband George; five grandchildren, Brandi Allen Frey and husband Forrest, Caleb Douglas Hughes, Hope Dixon Clinard and husband Brad, Kara Myers Dixon and Phillip Ray “Trip” Dixon III and one great grandchild, Scott Michael Allen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 5:00pm at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends in the Asbury Room at the church after the service.
