Mrs. Stanford was born in Henry County, Virginia and graduated from the Axton High School and attended Averette University in Danville, Va. She was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. On August 15, 1936 she married Joseph Alton Stanford who preceded her in death on December 16, 1988.
Surviving are her nephew, Eugene Thomas of Clermont, Florida and her longtime family friend, Calvin Reynolds of High Point.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 am in Floral Garden Park Cemetery by the Reverend Dr. Richard Howle. There will be a visitation at Sechrest Funeral Service on E. Lexington Avenue on Wednesday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00 p.m.
