

Mrs. Lynch was born January 17th, 1918 in Osceola, Nebraska, a daughter to the late Walter and Ella Liehr Koehler. She was a graduate of Osceola High School and the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska. Her nursing career spanned over sixty years ending with her retirement at age 85. She was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving as a nurse with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. While in the army she met and later married Jack Traverse Lynch who died in 1993. A resident of High Point from 1985 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2014, she also lived in Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, California and Nebraska. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Milton Knapp, her sister, Helen Koehler Johnson Rutter and a grandson, John Patrick Lynch.
Surviving are three sons, George Michael Lynch and his wife Carol of Greensboro, Georgia, Walter Dennis Lynch and his wife Lynn of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Dr. John Terin Lynch and his wife Ruth of Lake Worth, Florida, two daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Lynch Chorpening and her husband Glenn and Patricia "Patti" Lynch Reece all of High Point, North Carolina, and one sister, Lucille Pillsbury of Visalia, California.
Other survivors include thirteen grandchildren, Kristin Lynch Ficery and her husband Gregg, James Tyrone Lynch and his wife Susan, Michael Scott Lynch and his wife Colleen, Lory Lynch Challis and her husband Dave, Kyle Lynch Chorpening, Travis Jerome Lynch, Kaylor Brynne Mead and her husband Aaron, Eric Thomas Lynch, Erin Rese Chorpening, Madison Dalton Reece, McKenna Jacklyn Reece, Nicholas Ian Walker, Matthew David Walker, and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service, to celebrate Ruth’s life will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 10th at Christ United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Matthew S. Farabow and the Reverend Jeffrey Martin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of her daughter, Kathy Chorpening, 703 Westwood Ave., High Point, NC 27262.
