

Saundra McKinney Veach, age 85, a former resident of High Point, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Saundra was born in High Point and graduated from UNCG with a teaching degree. She married the love of her life, Wayne Veach, in 1962 and moved to Denver, CO, where she began her teaching career. They lived in Overland Park, KS for 20 years where they raised their family before returning to High Point in their retirement years. Saundra was a member of First Presbyterian Church in High Point.
Saundra enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach, and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her parents, Horace and Fay McKinney, and her dog, Chaucer.
Left to carry on her legacy are two daughters, Karen (Tom) Eller and Kathy (Lance) Johnson; sister, Janice (Charlie) Draper; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her dog Baxter.
The family will receive friends at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Saundra's life will be held at the church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Deep River Friends Meeting Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Oak City Cares (homeless services) in Raleigh, NC or to Happy Hooves (equine therapy) in Marietta, SC.
