
Suzanne Ripley Gorman died Sunday, February 13, at the Hospice Home at High point. She was born in Stratford CT on November 22, 1916, the daughter of Charles and Ada Robinson Gregory. She attended schools in Stratford and Bridgeport and graduated from Stratford High School.
She married Edward Pearson Ripley Jr. of Weston MA in 1938 and lived in Connecticut briefly before moving to High Point. Mr. Ripley died in 1985. In 1986 she married William R. Gorman of High Point.
In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Ripley Schoch and her husband Arch Kerper Schoch IV of High Point, Jane Ripley Johnson and her husband Harry Cornell Johnson Jr. of High Point, Suzanne Ripley Aller and her husband Dr. James David Aller of Charlottesville VA; by her son John Pearson Ripley and his wife Jacqueline Ann Coté of Chapel Hill; by her nine grandchildren, Amanda Rodes Schoch of Gaucin, Spain, Arch Kerper Schoch V of High Point, Christopher Johnson Roby of Raleigh, Gregory Andrew Johnson of High Point, Emma Suzanne Aller of Philadelphia PA, Laura Stuart Aller of Boston MA, Charles Ripley Aller of Charlottesville, Olivia Weston Ripley of Paris, France, and Edward Pearson Ripley III of Boone; and her four great-grandchildren Ray, Charles, Jake and Tyler. Also surviving are her four step-children and six step-grandchildren.
Sue worked for many years at Collier Ellis & Co. and at Margaret’s in High Point. She was a member of the parish of Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, where she participated in the Stephen’s Ministry and was a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels. The Reverend David Umphlett will conduct a memorial service at Saint Mary’s on Thursday, Feb. 17th, at 11:00 am. There will an opportunity to meet and celebrate in Saint Mary’s parish hall following the service. Her ashes will be inurned in the columbarium at Saint Mary’s.
