Tess Gardner Smith

Tess Gardner Smith, 90, of High Point passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Pennybyrn at Maryfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years Homer Lee Smith, her mother Irma Sams, and a brother Tommy Sams. She leaves behind a family who loved her very much and had the opportunity to tell her so on a daily basis. We are left with many wonderful memories.

Tess leaves behind sons H. Lee Smith, Jr.(Ann), Steve(MaryAnne), Kenny(Amy), Mark(Jill); a sister Lethia Provance; sister-in-law Charity Sams; grandchildren Trey(Nadia), Lee-Ann(Jeff) McGinnis, Andy, Kendall, Jodi, Connor and Caroline. She also leaves behind canine Hamilton.

A funeral service will be held at Green Street Baptist Church at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, the family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. George Sanders and the nursing staff at the High Point Regional Hospital Hayworth Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Jerry Powell and the Hayworth House nursing staff and caregivers at Pennybyrn at Maryfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Green Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 1701 Westchester Dr., Ste 620, High Point, NC 27262, or Hospice of The Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262.
