Mrs. Matthews was born in Norwood, North Carolina, May 16, 1931, a daughter of the late Henry Jackson Blalock and Lelia Elizabeth Still Blalock. She taught piano for many years and was an excellent cook and seamstress. Tim was a very spiritual person who loved to read the Bible and was a member of the High Point North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. James Matthews Jr. and three brothers, Homer, Bob and Gene Blalock.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn Matthews and Angela Matthews; two sisters, Lou Overcash and Ruth Simmons; a brother, David Blalock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Tim’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on March 4, 2017, at the High Point North Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1600 North Centennial Street. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont or to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society at jw.org.
