

High Point- Tony Starr Crandall, 68, passed away on Tuesday, October, 18, 2016 in his home. Tony was born on December 17, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Marie Crandall Warfel and Leonard Starr Crandall.
His infant son Christopher Starr Crandall and brother Tom Crandall also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife Pam Loflin Crandall; two daughters, Katie Crandall and Cayce Gordon (Reed); four sons, Matt Yates (Sarah), Andrew Yates (Victoria), Philip Yates (Emily), and Scott Thrift (Morgan); four grandchildren, Sara Yates, Grayson Yates, Katelyn Thrift, Reece Gordon. He is also survived by his aunt, Martha Ann Loflin as well as several nieces and nephews, his Rite Aid family members and several dear friends.
He loved his hometown of Havre de Grace, Maryland and always looked forward to cracking crabs at the waterfront. Tony was a graduate of Strayer College, a proud Vietnam Veteran and was employed by Rite Aid for over sixteen and a half years. Tony loved reading historical books, especially books about the Civil War, and enjoyed watching The History Channel. An avid sports fan, Tony was a huge Maryland Terrapins fan. He was a loving husband, proud dad, doting granddaddy and loved his pets like children as well. What Tony enjoyed most was grilling out, for family gatherings and being surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 22nd, at Oak Hill Friends Meeting. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Oak Hill Friends Meeting.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Tony’s name to The Humane Society of the Piedmont, 4527 West Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409 or the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals 205 West 700 South Salt Lake City, Utah 84101.
