

Born in Leesville, LA on February 23, 1928, he was the youngest of eight children born to parents Ira and Willanette Price.
Wilmer was an Eagle Scout and graduated Leesville High School in 1945. He served his country with the U.S. Navy (1945-1949) as a radar man RDM3 serving on the U.S.S. Valley Forge(CV-45), for which he was a plank owner. In 1952 Wilmer earned a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Northwestern State College of Louisiana. Wilmer was commissioned into the U.S. Army (1952-1954) as an artillery officer and was honorably discharged with rank of First Lieutenant. He started working with Western Electric in 1954 and worked with the company through many different divisions. He retired as an electronics engineer from AT&T in 1989. After retirement Wilmer was an instructor of mathematics and electronics at GTCC and ECPI. Wilmer was an avid and gifted golfer who enjoyed the game and played throughout his life.
Wilmer was married to the love of his life, Lois Garbo Clark Price for 62 years; she preceded him in death on 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son Thomas Ira Price (2003).
Surviving are six daughters; Karen Price Ransdell of Jamestown, Sharon Price Miller and husband Louie of Seagrove, Deborah Price Heaton Thomas and husband Dan of Lexington, Mary Price Snyder Clement and husband Joseph of Jamestown, Ruth Price Tucker and husband Jeff of Butner, Elizabeth Price Gore Jordan and husband Darrin of High Point; also surviving is brother-in-law Roy Daniel Johnson of High Point; former daughter-in-laws, Kim Halverson Price of KS, Carol Bull Price of Marion; former son-in-laws; Michael Snyder of High Point, Brian Gore of GA; three honorary daughters, Iris Boswell of Jamestown, Crystal Tucker of Wilmington and Kimberly Farrington of High Point; 15 grandchildren; Ryan Reznichek, Jason Heaton, Jodi Child, Joseph Ransdell, Matthew Miller, Jessica Lynch, Justin Snyder, Andrew Gore, Carrie Reyes, Zachary Tucker, Jonathan Ransdell, Adam Gore, Daniel Tucker, Hannah Jordan, Sarah Jordan; and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
