Alfred (Al) Growchowski was born September 3, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan to his late parents Stanley and Mary (Wais) Grochowski. Al drove a concrete truck for Corneille Concrete in Detroit, Michigan. He was skilled at many positions (drove truck, ran loading crane). He was the guy they called on for the most difficult jobs and getting the truck unstuck from other drivers. Loved his late wife Joanne and enjoyed spoiling her. Al loved his and Joanne's dogs who were always spoiled. Their dogs ate better and healthier than most people. He enjoyed the finer things in life while also appreciating the simpler things. Al was a very generous man - often helping those in need. Al would consider himself "determined" not stuborn. He always welcomed a good conversation over a beer. Al loved his neighbors and was proud to be part of the Duck Lake Life. He was an usher and part of the Men's Club at Holy Spirit Chruch for many years. Loved traveling and even invited other family members to join them on their vacations. Al was very proud of his 1980's Mastercraft boat. Enjoyed visiting family and friends. Al was always there to help out family and friends with their home-building/remodeling projects. His favorite restaurant was the Bahama Breeze- his go-to place. When he went out to eat with his sisters, they always ordered tiramisu. They all thought that was his favorite but he never told them it was German Chocolate.
Al had many hobbies including all lake activities boating, and water skiing the most. Building with his own hands; listening to music such as loved Johnny Cash and the Highwaymen; researching stocks and investments; exercising; reading; and watching the Discovery and History Channels.
Al is survived by his one sibling Arlene Paul.
Al is preceded by his late wife Joanne; sisters Ann Sinarski, Lorraine Kaczor, and Jeanette LePage; Brother Joesph Grochowski.
