It is with a profound sense of loss and a celebration of a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Anne Theresa Lubbe. Born on July 19, 1940, in Johnston, Pennsylvania, Anne's journey through life was marked by joy, love, and an infectious generosity that touched all who knew her. She passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, in Commerce Township, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.
Anne was the beloved wife of Joe, with whom she shared a life full of love and partnership since their wedding on September 3, 1960, in Quincy, Illinois. Together, they built a family foundation that would grow to include their cherished children Brian (Michelle), Terri Corcoran, Jim (Barb), Sue (Tim) Dunaitis, and JoAnne (Scott) Pettig. As a mother, Anne instilled in her children the values of compassion, integrity, and the importance of family.
Her role as a grandmother brought Anne immeasurable joy. She was the proud grandmother to Josie, Sophie, Tom, Jimmy, Rob, Joe, Jake, Jemma, Jamie, Christian, Cameron, Emily, and Lucas. Anne shared with her grandchildren the simple pleasures of life, teaching them to embrace every moment with gratitude.
Anne's love extended to her siblings and extended family. She was a caring sister to Mary (Dick) Hollenstine and a dear sister-in-law to Dennis (Carolyn) Lubbe. Her family tree was deeply rooted in love, and although she was preceded in death by her parents William and Marie Abele, daughter-in-law Sherri Lubbe, and five brothers, the branches of her family continued to flourish.
Anne's early life was marked by adventure and new experiences, including the years she spent living in Panama, where she attended Balboa High School in Panama City. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did, from her professional work as a real estate agent for Real Estate One to her spirited involvement in various associations.
Her interests reflected the vitality with which she lived her life. Anne was very active, relishing time spent with her family, particularly in her 2003 Ford Thunderbird, painted a cheerful Robin Egg Blue. She was an avid tennis player and an exceptional golfer, having earned her "ace" at Palm Valley in Arizona. Her athletic pursuits were not just hobbies; they were an extension of her social nature and her love for competition and camaraderie.
Anne was best described by those who knew her as loving, generous, and gentle. She approached life with a gentle strength that comforted and uplifted those around her. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she gave of herself freely and without expectation.
In her life, Anne embodied the words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." This quote reflects Anne's philosophy; she may not have sought greatness in the eyes of the world, but she achieved greatness in the hearts of those she loved through countless acts of kindness.
Anne's legacy is not just in the family she raised or the career she built, but in the love she spread and the lives she touched. As we bid farewell to Anne Theresa Lubbe, we take solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Her memory will be cherished, her presence sorely missed, and her example of a life well-lived will serve as a beacon for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Anne's life was a testament to the beauty of giving, the strength of gentleness, and the enduring power of love. As we remember Anne, we are reminded to live each day with the same kindness and passion that she did. She leaves behind not just a void, but a path of light for us to follow.
