She was the beloved wife of the late Larry and loving mother of Scott (Bailey) Roller, Brent (Laura) Roller, Kurt (Rhea) Roller, and the late Cory Roller. Barbara was a proud grandmother to Gavin, Joelle, Reagan, Shelby, Collette, and Graham, with one precious grandbaby on the way. She was the dear sister of Nancy Stevens and the late Judy Thistle and Gary Hassett.
Born February 25, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, Barbara was the daughter of Thomas and Olga Hassett. Her love story began when friends introduced her to Larry Roller at a drive-in restaurant—it truly was love at first sight. They married on August 13, 1971, and shared fifty-one wonderful years together until Larry’s passing on January 11, 2023.
A woman of strong Catholic faith, Barbara was a devoted parishioner at Church of the Holy Spirit in Highland for many years. She found joy in knitting, crafting, and baking, creating countless treasured memories through her handmade gifts. Family and friends will fondly remember the baby blankets she lovingly knitted for each newborn, the creative Halloween costumes she crafted for her children, and the delicious Christmas cookies she baked annually to share with loved ones. Above all, Barbara’s greatest happiness came from time spent with her grandchildren and family, who will miss her dearly.
In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Highland Chapel of Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356. The family will receive guests from 10:00 am until the time of service.
