Bobby J. Gibbs

Bobby J. Gibbs, age 79, of Highland Twp., Michigan passed away at home on September 20, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Bobby was a devoted man of faith, a caring mentor, and a man whose wisdom and kindness touched the lives of many.

Bobby was retired as pastor from the Highland Community Church. He dedicated himself to serving God and his congregation. He was an excellent Sunday School teacher, sharing his faith and knowledge with everyone who had the privilege of learning from him. He had a great gift to quote scripture or poems from memory.

Bobby had a deep desire to help others. He worked as a substance abuse counselor for CPI and also worked with the Salvation Army, always looking for ways to make a difference in the lives of those around him. He had a natural ability to listen, understand, and offer guidance when people needed it the most.

Bobby enjoyed watching Detroit Tigers Baseball and the Detroit Lions. When he was younger, he coached basketball. He even helped lead his team to win a championship game.

Bobby possessed an intellectual mind. He loved to read. His perspective led to thoughtful discussions about history, faith, life and countless other subjects.

Above all, Bobby was devoted to his family. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara for over 52 years; loving father of Jennifer (Doug) Brendel and Rebekah (Don) Carney; proud grandfather of Amy and Sara Brendel; brother of Linda Pyle.

The Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the Highland Community Church, 2350 Harvey Lake Rd., Highland, Michigan 48356. The family will greet visitors at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
