Bonnie Jean Blaufuss, age 89 of Farmington Hills, formerly of Highland Twp., Michigan passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 12, 1936 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Emil and Meta Buechel.
Bonnie was a true sports fan at heart. She passionately followed the Detroit Lions and MSU Basketball teams, cheering them on. She had a deep love for nature, especially birds-and could happily be found tending to her bird feeder, delighting in the feathered visitors that came to visit.
Bonnie was especially known for her homemade angel food candy, a treat she perfected and lovingly shared with friends, family and church members. Candy making was her passion, and her creations were a sweet reflection of her generosity and care.
Her greatest impact was in the classroom. Bonnie dedicated her career to teaching at Roosevelt Elementary School in Ferndale where she touched countless young lives with her guidance and love for learning. She was also a substitute teacher for the Walled Lake School System.
Bonnie was an active member of Commerce United Methodist Church, where she found fellowship and purpose within her church family for over 47 years. She often helped at church events and was involved with the women's club.
She is survived by her children Lisa (Steve) Bashford and Mark (Amy) Blaufuss; her grandchildren: Connor and Oliva Blaufuss, her sister Kathy Siech; and her faithful companion Mittens the cat. Bonnie was preceded by her husband Paul and her granddaughter Kristin Graves.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 22, 2025 at Commerce United Methodist Church, 1155 N. Commerce Rd., Commerce Twp., MI 48382.
