Bruce Davis Hamlin, age 77, passed away September 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. A 40-year resident of Highland, Bruce worked 29 years at Portec-Paragon Railcar Division in Novi. He retired in May 2009 from Moore Flame Cutting, Sterling Heights. He was born May 26, 1936 in Topinabee, Michigan to the late Richard Mose and Ellen Davis Hamlin. He graduated from Detroit Southwestern High School in 1954, (Valedictorian, Class President and 4 years of Varsity football). He attended Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan for 2 years and played varsity football both years; He also served 2 years in the US Army Reserve.
Bruce was a member of the Burt Lake Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Detroit Traffic Club and Highland United Methodist Church. He married Patricia Jane Rogers King on August 31, 1968 in Topinabee. Bruce was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. He was also a pilot, and played guitar and mandolin.

Grandchildren - Christopher (Cynthia) Howard and Chelsea Howard, IN; Thora Jane Ford and Jonah Ford, LA; Richard King, Highland; Kendall Nelson, NV; Nicole King, CA; Artellus Thomas, LA; Violet Hamlin, Fenton; Special Niece - Michelle Hamlin (David) Ross, MI; Nephew - Michael (Kathleen) Hamlin, MI; Brother - Neil Hamlin, MI; Great-Granddaughters - Sophia Howard and Jasmine Howard, IN.

Service Information:
Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Rd., Highland. Memorial Service Visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. also at the Funeral Home.
