

Daniel Raymond LaFontaine, age 75, of White Lake, Michigan, passed away on May 10, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1950, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and throughout his life he carried with him the warmth, strength, and devotion that came to define him.
Daniel was the beloved husband of Mary Jane LaFontaine (Beaudoin), whom he married on September 25, 1970, at Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington, Michigan. Their marriage was a lifelong partnership built on love, loyalty, and shared memories that remained at the center of his life. He was a devoted father to Dan LaFontaine Jr. and his wife Tiffany, and to Peter LaFontaine and his wife Tina. He was also preceded in death by his sons Dennis and Douglas, whom he loved deeply and remembered always. Daniel was a proud grandfather to Daniel III, Dillon and his wife Erica, Leah, Lana, Owen, and Makenzie, and a great-grandfather to Elliott and Hudson. His family was the great joy of his life, and he took immense pride in each generation that followed him.
He was the brother of Fred, Gordie and Mike and was preceded in death by his brothers Dick, John and Paul. He was also a brother-in-law to Connie, Pat, Jay, Jeanne, Elieen and Maureen. Daniel valued the bond of family and the many connections that shaped his life, and he was known for the steady presence he offered to those who knew him best.
Daniel was associated with LaFontaine Automotive Group, where he contributed through his work and dedication. He approached his responsibilities with a strong sense of purpose and a dependable spirit. Those who worked with him knew him as someone who could be counted on, and his presence left a lasting impression on the people and organizations with which he was involved.
A veteran of the United States National Guard, Daniel carried his service with quiet pride. He understood the value of commitment and discipline, and those qualities were reflected throughout his life. He lived with integrity and dignity, and he brought those same qualities into his role as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Daniel had many interests that brought him joy and reflected his personality. He enjoyed boating at the family home on Cedar Island Lake, where time on the water created cherished memories. He was a devoted Christmas enthusiast who loved decorating and took great pride in his Department 56 Village collection. He also collected the Santa Bear each year, a tradition that brought him happiness and reflected the spirit of the season he loved so much. He enjoyed golfing and appreciated the time spent outdoors and among friends. Above all else, Daniel treasured his family, and they remained the center of everything important to him.
He will be remembered as a loving, friendly, and interesting man whose presence brightened the lives of others. His kindness and easy manner made him approachable, and his warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Daniel’s life was marked by devotion to family, appreciation for tradition, and a genuine love for the people and moments that mattered most.
Daniel Raymond LaFontaine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, in the traditions he cherished, and in the many lives he touched with his love and steady presence.
Visitation will be held at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Road, Highland, MI 48356, on May 13, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In State will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake, MI 48386, on May 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake, MI 48386, on May 14, 2026, at 11:00 am.
