Dorothy S. Ranke

Dorothy S. Ranke, age 95, of Waterford, was born October 18, 1926 in Detroit and passed away March 27, 2022 in Waterford. Loving mother of Phyllis (Mike) Fiteny, Karen (Chuck) Landstrom, Sandy Ranke, and Russ (Maggie) Ranke. Proud grandmother of Mark (Amanda) Fiteny, Matt (Jodi) Fiteny, Jill (Jonathan) Brown, Steve (Kara) Landstrom, Kelly (Jeff) Brassow, Scott (Seina) Landstrom, Michael Ranke, and Kevin Ranke. Treasured great-grandmother of Michelina, Miles, Malcolm, Maddox, Malina, Berkeley, Roman, Dylan, Izzy, Millie, and Axel. Dorothy was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Victor J. Ranke; her parents, Russell and Sophia Gasparro; and her sister and brother-in-law, Connie (Frank) Orlando.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Dorothy enriched the lives around her. Her generosity, her penchant for speaking her mind, and her determination were inspirational to all. Dorothy described herself as a "people" person. She and her husband Vic were instrumental in starting the Waterford Mott Booster Club, spending countless hours working at Bingo Nights to raise money for the football team. She enjoyed being a homemaker, and when her children were older, she worked as a cashier in the Cash Office Department at Hudson's (Macy's), from which she retired. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and drawing. Underneath the paneling of their home, one could find life-size Disney pictures that she painted for her children. She proudly resided in the home that Vic built in Elizabeth Lake Estates for 73 years.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 8, 2022 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm (Rosary 6:00pm) and Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00am at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland. Burial will be held Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:00am at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
