Emily Faye Sinclair, age 92, of Highland, died Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Wendy (Corbin) Wagner, Laura (Steve) Waters, and Polly (Jim) Shields; her ten grandchildren: Jacquelyn (Martín Baeza Rubío) Wagner, Candice Wagner, Keith Wagner, Cynthia Wagner, Casey Jack (Athena) Waters, Dawn Alina Waters, Heidi Anna Waters, Jamie Duke Waters, Katy (Kent Aeschliman, and Jake Shields; her four great-grandchildren: Ara, Blitzen, Cleo, and Dustin; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Faye was born October 19, 1927, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Leslie and Ella Ruth (Amos) Engstrom. She attended Albion College, graduating with her bachelor’s degree in education in the year of 1948. It was at Albion College where she met Jack William Sinclair. Faye and Jack started dating, fell in love, and were married on April 17, 1949, in Albion. They shared sixty-nine wonderful years together until Jack’s death on November 21, 2018. Throughout her adult life, Faye worked briefly as a junior high school teacher in Kalamazoo; however, when her children were born, she became a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. Her family was her pride and joy; she loved to take care of her children. Faye was also a member of the congregation at Ward Presbyterian Church in Northville. She will be greatly missed by many.
In her free time, Faye enjoyed sewing, needlepointing, knitting, and crocheting. However, most of all, Faye loved to spend quality time with her family and close friends; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren!
Faye was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ella Ruth; her loving husband, Jack William Sinclair; her brother, Paul “Bud” Engstrom; and her grandson, Joel Mark Wagner, who died on September 8, 2000.
In accordance with her wishes, Faye will be laid to rest in Burdell Township Cemetery on Friday, June 19, 2020.
