Esteban Uballe Jr, known to just about everyone as Steve, passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 78. A lifelong Michigander, he lived his final years in Highland but never lost his roots in Pontiac, where his story began.
Steve was born on October 19, 1947, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Esteban Uballe Sr. and Maria Teresa Uballe. He grew up to become a devoted family man, a good friend, and a proud fan who wore his loyalties on his sleeve. When it came to sports, Steve was all in. He loved his Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions through the good seasons and the tough ones, and he cheered on The Michigan Wolverines with the kind of enthusiasm that made game days a little louder. He was just as happy out on the field or the lanes himself, whether that meant a round of golf, a night of bowling, or a game of softball with folks he cared about.
More than anything, Steve treasured his family. He was a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a steady presence for those who knew him best.
He leaves behind so many who loved him dearly. He is survived by his mother, Maria Teresa Uballe; his daughters, Lisa (Uballe) Brohl (Ronald Brohl) and Stephanie (Uballe) Jensen (Kristofer Jensen); his grandsons, Weston Brohl and Cayden Henson; his sisters, Rita (Uballe) Edwards and Anita (Uballe) Vasquez (Daniel Vasquez Sr); and his brother Ruben Uballe. He is also survived by many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws including John and Debbie Baselle, Dennis and Debby Betts, Doug and Mary Betts, David Betts and Susan Mackenzie, and Mary Ann Betts.
Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Betts) Uballe; his father, Esteban Uballe Sr.; his brother, Eliazar "Chay" Uballe; his sister, Gloria Uballe; his brothers-in-law Darence Betts, Donald Betts, and Duane Betts; and parents-in-law Edmund and Margaret Betts.
A man of quiet faith, Steve’s family finds comfort knowing he has been reunited with the love of his life, Dorothy and the loved ones who went before him.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Rd., Highland from 11:00 AM until time of the Funeral service at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes you to share a favorite memory of Steve, or better yet, root for the home team in his honor. GO BLUE!
