George Hubert Brown, a man whose life was marked by his unwavering faith, skilled hands, and friendly demeanor, passed away on June 4, 2025, in Howell, Michigan. Born on August 28, 1954, in Monee, Illinois, George was a man who built not just structures but also a legacy of kindness, mentorship, and community service.
George's early years in Monee laid a strong foundation for his character and passions. A graduate of Milford High School in 1972, he was renowned for his exceptional talent on the hockey rink—a testament to his team spirit and dedication. It was these qualities that he carried into his professional life as a General Contractor. At BBC Construction, which he co-founded with his business partner Dean Rhodes, George's craftsmanship and integrity were the cornerstones of his success.
He was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. George could often be found on the Bestie River, fishing rod in hand, embracing the tranquility of nature. His love for the open road was fulfilled through the roar of his motorcycle, a freedom he cherished. And in the quiet moments, he savored his "Scooby Snacks," a quirky reminder of his ability to find happiness in the little things.
George's commitment to service was unparalleled. As a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, he shared his journey with others, offering support and fostering hope. His spiritual home was Calvary Lutheran Church, where he was an active and devoted member. George's involvement with charity organizations through his church exemplified his generosity and desire to give back to his community.
His role as a youth mentor at Harbor High School Alternative revealed another layer of George's character—his ability to connect with and inspire young people. He dedicated his time and talents to "Christmas in April," helping to improve homes in the Highland, Milford, and Walled Lake areas, ensuring that his neighbors lived in warmth and safety.
George's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his sons, George H. Brown, Jr., and Peter Brown; his sister, Karen M. Brown; and sister, Terry J. Hofsess. His numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins will also hold dear the memory of his playful spirit and compassionate heart. George was preceded in death by his parents, G.H. Brown and Darlene Brown (nee Schmidt), and his sister, Paula D. Comis.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fresenius Kidney Center for their friendship and care during George's time with them. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." George Hubert Brown loved deeply and is now indelibly a part of the countless lives he touched. His legacy of faith, friendship, and service will continue to resonate within the community and beyond.
A celebration of George's life will be held on July 12, 2025 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 6805 Bluegrass Drive, Village of Clarkston, Michigan 48346 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jonathan Heireman officiating.
