Gerald "Jerry" Scott Waligora, 66, of Placida, Florida, passed away on April 23, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. While Jerry's time with us ended far too soon, his spirit, humor, and generosity continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him.
Born on September 10, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, Jerry lived a life defined by intrepidity, punctuality, adventurousness, good-humor, self-pride, resilience, and kindness. Jerry shared these beliefs and values with everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Jerry found joy in playing golf, coaching and watching baseball, working on home projects, creating architectural designs, and spending time with his three sons. He enjoyed driving a golf ball longer than golfers who were 20 years younger than him, giving advice and coaching baseball players, and simply spending time with the people he loved. Friends and family will always remember Jerry's great sense of humor, his unique temperament, and his attention to detail. He brought light and greatness into every room.
Professionally, Jerry dedicated his time by following the spirit of entrepreneurship, where he was known for unwavering work ethic, strong leadership, discipline, and inspirational creativity. But above all, Jerry cherished his role as a father, partner, sibling, friend, and coach. He was always ready to offer steady love and support.
Jerry is survived by his three sons: Kirk (Elizabeth) Waligora, Jack Waligora (Jessica), and Cole Waligora. He was a proud grandfather to Levi, Avalynn, Jonah, and Rosalee Waligora, and a cherished brother to Cheri (Tony) Skomra and his sister-in-law, Sharon Waligora. Jerry is also survived by the mother of his children and great friend, Darlene Waligora. Jerry's family will carry forward his legacy of kindness, commitment to family, and strive for greatness.
Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ignatius and Mary Waligora, as well as his brother, Larry Thomas Waligora.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Elton Black and Son Highland Chapel. Family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories. A visiting hour will precede at 5:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to The American Heart Association, reflecting Jerry's lifelong commitment to living a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Though we say goodbye for now, we hold close the joy, love, and meaning that Jerry brought into our lives. Jerry's story continues in every heart he touched.
