Gladys was born to Richard and Dorothy Couch on March 7, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Pershing High School in 1944.
Beloved wife of the late George Pittard. Loving mother of Jan (James) Foster, Kathryn (the late Arthur) Lampe, Paul (Susan) Hennicken and the late David Hennicken. Dear stepmother of Audrey (Thomas) Wernholm and the late Alice (the late Howard) Goodrich. Cherished sister of Richard (the late Randi) Couch and the late Douglas (Sally) Couch. Treasured grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 19 and foster grandmother of Amelia Campbell and her family. Devoted owner of the late Gee-Ling, her faithful little dog, who was never too far from her side.
Gladys and George were active members of West Highland Baptist Church since 1983. She was a gifted poet with her favorite subject of inspiration being her family. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling all over the United States.
Gladys and her husband retired to The Sanctuary at Woodland in 2004, where she participated in many activities including trips, painting and arts and crafts. Gladys’ prayer is that her family will all join her and George in Heaven someday.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 3:00pm until 8:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland. Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00am (In State 10:00am) at West Highland Baptist Church, 1116 S. Hickory Ridge Road, Milford. Burial at Parkview Memorial Cemetery, Livonia.
