Hank Dombrowski passed away unexpectedly at home on August 19, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born and raised in Detroit, Hank attended St. Scholastica and St. Benedictine High School before earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit, where he was a member of ROTC. He later completed Army Officer and Air Defense Training in El Paso, Texas. Hank made lists for just about everything, so it was only fitting that he spent 32 years as an engineer at Chrysler, the perfect job for someone who liked things organized, precise, and done right.
In 1975, Hank married Cynthia (Cindy) Fader. Together they shared 50 years of marriage filled with love, humor, and travel, though Hank was always happiest returning to their cabin in Hillman, Michigan. The cabin was his never-ending project and his happiest retreat, especially when hunting season rolled around. Hank was Catholic, but everyone knew his true religion was deer hunting.
He took pride in his Polish heritage, his love of reading, and his wry, politically incorrect sense of humor. He enjoyed Agatha Christie mysteries, World War II history, boating, old movies, old-time radio, and above all, time with his wife Cindy.
Hank is survived by his wife Cindy, his daughter Elizabeth (Michael Bostic), his brother Howard, and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene (née Ochelska) and Henry, and his son, Henry Peter IV.
He leaves behind countless stories, plenty of lists, and his own final words: “As Porky Pig would say… Da da da dat’s all, Folks!”
A memorial service will be held at Elton Black and Son, 3295 E. Highland Rd, Highland Township, MI 48356, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
