With deep love and sorrow, the family of Herbert “Herb” Lucre announces his passing on November 19, 2025, at the age of 79.

Herb is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Lucre, and proud children: Lori (Jim) Lucre, Cheryl (Rob) Fisher, Michelle (Tom) Klaus, Catherine (Mike) Patterson, Jason, and Ashley (Steve) Amburgy.

He was a cherished grandfather to Wayne, Riley, Aaron (Danya), Benjamin, Lucas, Rachel, Tyler, Brittney (Rony), and Jonathan. As well as three great grand children, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

Herb is also survived by his siblings Noemi, Lydia, Ishmael, and Al.

A proud U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Vietnam, Herb lived his life with unwavering patriotism and deep dedication to supporting fellow veterans. He spent many years working at Oakland University, where he was known for his strong work ethic, warmth, and generosity of spirit.

Herb’s presence was a gift to all who knew him. He had a remarkable talent for fixing anything as a natural handyman, always ready to help friends, family, and strangers alike with kindness and patience. He was charitable, loving, and generous—known as someone who gave without hesitation.

Herb was equally known for his sense of humor. He loved a good dad joke and had a unique ability to brighten the day of anyone around him. His laughter, kindness, and gentle heart will be remembered forever.

Herb will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, service, generosity, and humor will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know him.

Forever loved. Forever missed.

A memorial service will be held in the spring at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
