Beloved husband of Patricia for 36 years. Loving father of David (Melissa) of Virginia and Dawn (Eric) Sullivan of Colorado. Step-father of Joseph (Debbie) Mulville of Brighton, Shawn (Jill) Mulville of Farmington Hills, and Kelly (Mike) Burdinie of Highland. Proud grandfather of Shelby, Amber, Calie, Katie, Joseph, Shannon, Ana, Brianna, Trudie (Caleb), Allena (Cameron), Lydia, Dominick, Challiyah, Laura and Hannah. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Florence Zimmerman and his siblings, Joan, Patty and Mary Ann.
Howard was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He shared these activities and his love of nature with his friends, family and grandchildren. He enjoyed his home by the lake full of the people and "granddogs" he loved providing boat rides, bonfires and beverages.
Mr. Zimmerman was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit where he was active with the Men's Club. He was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus and participated in many charitable events.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 Harvey Lake Road in Highland. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road and Wednesday at church from 10:00am until the time of mass at 11:00am. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary Tuesday evening at 6:00pm at the funeral home. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Milford. Fr. Wayne Ureel officiating.
