Jessica Elaine Fritsche, age 30, was freed from her earthly body on May 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Diane Dupre and Paul Eberly, and paternal step-grandfather, Ken Wigton. Jessica is survived by her mother, Stacey Wigton (Matt), sister Ashley Wigton, grandmother Frances Wigton, several aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Jessica was a graduate of Wing Lake Developmental Center in Bloomfield Hills and a resident at Hidden Lane group home where she was adored by everyone and lovingly referred to as their ‘baby’. The staff at Hidden Lane were more than just caretakers – they became Jessica’s extended family. Woodside Bible Church in White Lake had open arms for Jessica, and she extended her community outreach through New Gateways Community program.
We know there were things that Jessica could not do – she could not walk, she could not talk. There were many everyday tasks Jessica was unable to complete which we take for granted and that is how she was commonly seen by those who did not know her.
But for her family and friends, that is not how we saw her and not who she was. Jessica was able to do many things – she could smile, she could laugh, she could love without ever saying a word. Jessica inspired others to try harder by watching her overcome her own health challenges, showed others to find joy in the simple things by not taking anything for granted, and taught those around her to find their own inner strength and perseverance.
Jessica endured health battles and medical limitations that would crush so many of us. Through her years, she showed her true strength by continuously going, always fighting, long after others would have given up. The dedication displayed by her mother to help Jessica through these challenges is one that emulates unconditional love.
Jessica was a pure joy during her short time here. She reminded us that most of our problems are not really problems, and to be grateful for what we have. We must savor the sweet, beautiful moments we have every day because life is fragile. Through the challenges, adversity and pain may we always be able to find the splendor.
Jessica was an angel on earth and is now one in heaven.
Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
