John F. “Jack” DeRonne, age 81, of Howell, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti. Left to cherish Jack’s memory are his children: Russell (Rose) DeRonne II, Elizabeth (Gene) Dettore, Thomas DeRonne, John (Heike) DeRonne Jr., Charlene (Richard) Sobanski, Denise (Kelly) McNutt, and Greg (Patty) O'Driscoll; his son-in-law, Matt Joseph; his grandchildren: Chad and Jenna Joseph; his 12 grandchildren; his sisters; and many other extended family members and close friends.
Jack was born March 10, 1939, in Detroit, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Russell and Esther (Roellinger) DeRonne. He graduated from St. Martin's High School of Detroit and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Jack entered into the police academy. Jack was married to Joann in 1977. They shared thirty-three wonderful years together.
Jack served as a police officer with the Detroit Police Department for twenty-eight years. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, camping, and spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by many.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Esther; his loving wife, Joann M. DeRonne; his daughter, Michelle Joseph; his brother, Robert Russell DeRonne; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Birks.
In accordance with Jack’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No public services have been scheduled at this time. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions in Jack’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
