

John Pryde Loch, age 88, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. He was born on May 25, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, and lived a long and full life marked by dedication, service, and love for those dearest to him.
John proudly served his country as a United States Marine, carrying with him the strength, discipline, and honor of that calling throughout his life. Following his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the Detroit Police Department, protecting and serving his community with courage and integrity.
He shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diane Loch (Childs). After retiring, Jack and Diane moved to Oscoda, Michigan, where they enjoyed the beauty and serenity of life on the shores of Lake Huron. They were active parishioners of Tawas Presbyterian Church, embracing faith, community, and fellowship.
John is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his children, Kevin, Brian, and David; his daughter-in-law, Raquel; and his cherished granddaughter, Kate Loch.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a proud Marine; a steadfast police officer; and a man whose life was guided by faith and love.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Elton Black & Son Funeral home, located at 3295 East Highland Road, Highland, Michigan 48356.
Military honors and committal service will take place at 2:00 PM in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442 immediately following the gathering at the funeral home.
