Jon was the beloved husband of Doris Landry-Kruse for 40 amazing and wonderful years. He was a great stepdad to Kenneth (Michelle) Kolbusz and Delane (Tony) Buttacavoli, and he was incredibly proud of his grandchildren, Case and Mira Kolbusz, Hannah and Mason Buttacavoli, and the late Logan Kolbusz. He was also a caring brother to Steve (Sue) Kruse, Sue (the late Terry) Laymon, and Jill (Curt) Sandine, and an uncle and cousin to many who loved him. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ward and Gretchen (née Schneeberger) Kruse.
Jon spent 32 dedicated years working at General Motors Milford Proving Ground, a career he truly enjoyed. His work gave him the chance to see the USA, live in Germany and travel to other countries around the world - he enjoyed it all immensely. Outside of work, Jon’s passion was anything with a motor. He took great joy in cruising in his red Corvette, riding his red motorcycle, and simply being out on the open road. Autumn was his favorite time of year, and he loved nothing more than taking in the crisp air and the colors of the season. He savored the beauty of Michigan as a true Michigander.
Friends are invited to gather on Sunday, October 5, 2025, and join his many family members at the Highland Chapel of Elton Black, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a service at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Jon's life followed by a memorial luncheon, at the funeral home, where stories and memories of Jon can be shared.
Jon wished there was a cure for Non-Hodgkin Plasmablastic Lymphoma but felt strongly that, since so few people have his type of cancer, donations would be better used to feed hungry children in our country who have their whole lives ahead of them. To honor Jon's wishes, contributions can be made to the Michigan Chapter of Feeding America.
