

Josephine “JoHelen” Stuart, age 79, of White Lake, died Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Westlake Health Campus in Commerce Township. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert (Tracy) Stuart, Colleen (Paul) Melton, and Kathleen (Ed) Tarket; eight grandchildren: Michael, R.J., Andrew, Hunter, Samantha, Ryan, Tiffany, and Tyler; three great-grandchildren, and one on the way; her two sisters: Pat Kleine and Kathy Reed; and her brother, Steve McDonnell.
JoHelen was born July 2, 1940, in Royal Oak, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Eric and Ruth (Hallett) McDonnell. Throughout her adult life, she worked as a unit secretary at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac for twenty years until her retirement in 2005. In her free time, JoHelen enjoyed playing bingo, watching the birds, and making afghans and quilts. She was an avid sewer. She listened to country music, and was especially partial to Elvis. However, most of all, JoHelen enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Ruth; and her cat Bingo, who she loved dearly.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions have been implemented governing the number of people permitted inside public buildings. With the health and safety of their family and friends in mind, Josephine’s family has decided to hold a memorial service honoring her life at a later date. In accordance with Josephine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Those desiring may share memories and condolences with the family on the funeral home’s website. All future service details will be announced at a later time.
