It’s been three years since Larry passed and I think about him all the time. I think, what would Larry do? Or, I’ll work on something around the house and remember all the practical skills Larry taught me—working on a car, painting trim, or fixing a broken appliance. I wouldn’t be able to do all the things around the house if not for Larry’s teachings. My favorite memories of Larry usually involve his laugh and smile. I picture him at the player piano we had, singing along to one of the many rolls we had, pumping the pedals. These memories sustain me; they keep his spirit alive.

Larry was the uncle I was closest to my whole life.  He carted me around like a little brother.  Took me hunting, fishing and golfing.  He spent a lot of time with our family throughout the years.  A special person in my life, along with Jan and family!❤️

Larry was my brother in law, married to my older sister . He was a kind and funny person to be around. Alway a joke or a smile . Loved playing cards with him. He loved to win and of course I tried to not let that happen. We were competitive . Will be missed and never forgotten .  Joyce 

There will always be a special place in my heart for Uncle Lawrence…..always smiling, caring, loving, and laughing! He was quite mischievous, also.  When growing up in Newberry, Fourth of July was a huge day for us. It always started with a “bang” of firecrackers under our bedroom windows in the wee hours of the morning……set off by guess who?! Uncle Lawrence had arrived! Let the day begin!
He was always very welcoming and happy to see us at whatever age we were.  The doors were always open, and I spent many nights at his house on Asbury Park when I was in high school and college. 
Lawrence loved his sister, Ada, my mother, and it warmed my heart how he made her feel so very special. This favorite uncle was involved in most family events. How special it was that he even attended my graduation from Northern Michigan University in Marquette! And who remembers riding around in his cool, white hardtop convertible? I miss him.
Uncle Lawrence was a good man, who lived a long life with Aunt Jan lovingly by his side. Priceless.

My memory starts at the Adler farm at the top of Foley Hill. Lawrence was in high school and he was like a big brother.  He carted me around in his Crosley and I thought that was so cool. He wore  uniforms with dignity.  The high school band uniform,  the Air Force uniform and always a suit to church.  We grew up hunting, fishing and enjoying many family holidays together.  He was a frequent visitor to Newberry for the holidays.  You knew he had arrived for the 4th of July  when late at night he crept into the yards of Walt and Lucille and Tubby and Ada to light off his fireworks then went speeding off.  I'm back!
He and Jan loved to travel and visited nearly all of the states in the US.  Even visited Jenny in Tacoma.
Uncle Lawrence was adored by all nieces and nephews and we all have stories to tell.
He was a  special person and we will miss him.

Our thoughts & prayers go out to you Aunt Janet, Eric, Tommy & family. We love you all and have nothing but wonderful memories of our time with Uncle Larry. We will always remember our wonderful visits at Grandma & Grandpa Hagadorn’s & your visit to Chesapeake, VA . Uncle Larry’s infectious smile, jokes & laughter always made him a joy to be around! He will be dearly missed! ❤️

Uncle Lawrence was a very special man.  I remember being very young when my dad (Dan) bartered and got an upright piano.  My dad's brothers helped him move it to our house.  I remember this huge open bed truck coming down the street and Uncle Lawrence up there on it playing that piano.

I remember visiting him at his Detroit house and his dog Arrow.  He was usually tinkering in his garage when we came.  It was always fun.

I remember that he made a point to contact me and then travel to come and see my mom when she was in a nursing home.  Aunt Jan brought her a beautiful afghan.  It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture.  It meant a lot.

He was a cheerful man, always smiling and eager to laugh.  I will miss him.

Where to begin, he lived with us for a number of years and because of that he was always the favorite uncle.  There were the summers playing basketball in the backyard because he had bought Ron a backboard for Christmas and installed it on the garage.    Or when he and Dad built a ping pong table so we could play that in the basement.  Ice skating  and family ice fishing trips in the winter, going to Canada in the spring during the smelt run, sitting at the kitchen table and playing cribbage, and of course the big one the fact that my birthday was the day after his.    So there were always family birthday celebrations at the lake, for his, mine, Uncle Tubby, we shared a birthday and Randy whose birthday was the 3rd. As we grew up he was always there to lend a hand with my parents as they grew older.  H was very much a part of my family life growing up. He will be deeply missed.

Some of my favorite memories of Larry are of him puttering around in his garage on Jackson Blvd.  He keep the place in good order, all small parts were neatly organized in baby food jars!  I learned how to change a tire, how to change the oil, what wonderfully simple life tools that you take with you many years down the road.  One hardly realizes the impact that can have on another.  But you made a positive impact on my life, Larry, and for that I am grateful.  Thanks for your smile and an open door.

Larry and I had 45 years together.  That saying, "all who wander are not lost" certainly applied to him. He was always wandering off. We would go to Home Depot and I would spend my time walking up and down the isles looking for him. An associate would ask if he could help me and I would say, "Yes, help me find my husband." He even wandered off in a chocolate factory in Germany. I thought he was behind me in line for hot chocolate.  I found him later waiting for me on the bench by the door. He was one of a kind. I loved him.

I have so many memories of my pops. One memory has to do with him and his player piano. He loved to get out the old rolls and pump the pedals and sing out the words while the piano played the music. The family would gather around and sing along too. It was a great time for him.
