Lawrence Victor Adler, age 89, of Waterford, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at his home. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Janet; his two sons: Erik Malewski, and Thomas (Jennifer) Adler; his three grandchildren: Lucille, Jack, and Maya Adler; his sister-in-law, Lucille Adler; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was born August 1, 1931, in Engadine, Michigan, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel and Pauline (Greenwald) Adler. He and Janet Hagedorn were married, and shared forty-five wonderful years together. Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1953, and then went on to work as a paymaster at Barton-Malow Construction for forty-two years until his retirement. Lawrence was a devoted member of the congregation at Faith Lutheran Church, helping out around the church in many different roles. Lawrence loved the upper peninsula and was proud to be a "Yooper". His family and close friends will always remember him by his great sense of humor; Lawrence couldn’t pass up a chance to tell a good joke. He was a wonderful man who will be missed by many.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Pauline; his five brothers: Daniel, Paul, Ernest, Walter, and Benjamin Adler; and his sister, Ada Mark.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 11:00am (In State 10:00am) at Faith Lutheran Church 3501 E. Highland Road, Highland. Burial with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 2:00pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
