Louanna Ann Bell

Louanna Ann Bell, age 89, of Highland, died Sunday, October 4, 2020, at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Laura (Bruce Meek) Bell, John (Donna) Bell, Richard (Sheryl Lindsay) Bell, and Elizabeth (Andrew Perkins) Bell-Perkins; her eight grandchildren: Matthew, Mary Kate, Sarah, Jennifer, Kristen, Bryan, Adriaen, and Lauren; her two great-granddaughters: Emma and Reagan; her five siblings: Vivian, Mary (Chris) Bast, Helen (Kenneth) Nocito, Melissa (John), and Debbie Keith; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Louanna was born July 24, 1931, in Los Angeles, the daughter of Joseph Mackowski and Marie Bowman. Shortly after her birth, Louanna moved to New York, where she was raised. She married Laurence Bell on November 24, 1951, and they shared fifty-seven wonderful years together until Laurence’s death in August of 2009. Louanna received her associate’s degree in nursing from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York in the 1970s, and went on to work at several hospitals in the state of New York until her retirement; after which she moved to western Massachusetts. In 2018, Louanna moved to Michigan to be close to her family. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, painting, listening to music, taking trips to the family property in Maine, and spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She was a remarkable woman who will be missed by many.

Louanna was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie; her loving husband, Laurence Bell; her sister, Ginevra Moody; and her brother, Leslie Keith.

In accordance with Louanna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. No further services have been scheduled at this time.
