We first met Marian ten years ago. She had such resolve and loving dedication to her late husband Elvin Sr. Her kindness and well wishes on us, as new business were very much appreciated. I once said too her. "wow it must be hard for you too do all that you do " ,her response showed me how strong her faith was and looked up ( to the heavens) and said "yep but i have help." smiled and walked out the door. We'll miss her.

Growing up, Marian and Chub were ever present as neighbors and friends.  Every other weekend, they were my chauffeurs to points north to meet Dad.  Marian always had goodies in the car- she loved cheetos and always shared.  

Marian's New Year parties were the best- silly and entertaining, she always included everyone especially the kids.  

I, also remember the "cut throat" card games at the Escape- Marian was always busy keeping the goodies coming.

Marian was definately the hostess extraordinaire.

Marian, thanks for all the great memories.  

Chubby and John,I am so sorry I missed your mom's memorial - stuck at O'Hare Airport waiting for a plane home.

We are so lucky to have gotten to know Mrs. Stretten.  My entire family has felt her love and generosity over the years.  She always made us feel just like family.  She loved talking about her family and friends and all the good times they shared over the years.  Even before I met the family I felt like I knew them.  I am so very glad and honored to have know her and i thank her for all the wonderful memories!!
We love you and will miss you dearly,

I am very sad to hear about the passing of Marian.  She was much loved by all that knew her.  I have very fond memories of her and Chub growing up.  They were the most fun to ski and snowmobile with and there was nothing like a snowmobile trip with Chub and my Grandpa!  At least she will be with Chub again now.  She will certainly be missed.  I wish I could attend the funeral and I know my Grandma would want to say goodbye if she was able to make the trip.  My thoughts are with her family.

Skiing, snowmobiling, and Marian's big pockets filled with goodies for the ride. We had years of fun and great times growing up every weekend during the winters! My youngest Christie went down her first black diamond ski run with Chub - and Marian cheering her on. Cherished memories.

Mrs. Stretten always opened her heart and her home to everyone.   I will never forget the great snowmobile weekends at their cabin in Michigan.  She always invited me to "tag" along with my sister and brother-in-law.  She was also a great grandmother to my niece Molly.

Marian was such a kind person. She had a love for life and shared that passion with her family and all who knew her. To all she touched with her generous spirit, be grateful for her light in your life and honor her by carrying her light in your heart always. We are so fortunate to have known such a wonderful woman. God grant her eternal life.

Marian was super-devoted to her husband, Elvin ("Chubb") and her sons and their families.  The "Skiing Grandma" was the highlight of her grandkids' Colorado ski trips...and always involved in their lives.  Will never forget her "renting" the high school band that Betsy played in to come to the family Fourth of July celebration--unforgettable!  Great sense of humor, kind and generous.  God grant her eternal life and peace!

Sixty plus years of great memories. Christmas with the family, swimming at the cottage, skiing with Dave and Jeff. Snowmobiling at night in Mancelona....  You hold a fond place in my heart.
