Mary Elizabeth Posont, age 80, of Walled Lake, died Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Ashford Court Assisted Living in Westland. Mary was born October 30, 1940, in Allen Park, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John and Meneva (Doyle) Vermett. In her free time, Mary could always be found going for walks, tending to her garden, or spending time with her cats, who she loved dearly. She showcased her lovely singing voice as a member of an accolades singing group in Walled Lake for many years, and spent time volunteering at her local library whenever she could. She also has fond memories of taking trips to England to visit her daughter while she lived there. Mary was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Meneva; her first husband, David Ponder; and her second husband, Robert “Bob” Posont.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Mary will be inurned at the Walled Lake Cemetery next to her husband, Bob Posont, at a later date.

Mom and I went to a lavender farm one year and she was amazed at how tall this thistle was.

My mom was very photogenic. She always had a smile for the camera. This photo goes way back to 1984.

In this picture, my mom and Bob (her second husband) are waiting their turn at the snooker table. When they came to visit us in England we stayed at Lumley Castle which had a grand room with a snooker table.

I had to convince her to go to the Henry Ford Museum when the Stars Cars and Guitars were on display there. Here we are in front of the Weiner mobile. We had lots of laughs that day.

Mom liked to have fun. She even went on the bumper boats.

Years and years ago my mother loved growing things like flowers and vegetables in her garden. She had a green thumb. Her vegetable garden was always large and she would can almost all of it for the winter.
