Mary Elizabeth Posont, age 80, of Walled Lake, died Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Ashford Court Assisted Living in Westland. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Pauline Heidelmeyer, and Sandra (Richard) Paananen; her two grandsons: David Heidelmeyer, and Alan Paananen; and her sister, Diana Bland.
Mary was born October 30, 1940, in Allen Park, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John and Meneva (Doyle) Vermett. She and David Ponder were married on February 12, 1960, and spent twenty-eight wonderful years together, raising their two daughters. Mary worked as a billing supervisor at McPhearson Health Center in Howell for twelve years, and then went on to work at Meadowbrook Insurance Agency for ten years until her retirement. In her free time, Mary could always be found going for walks, tending to her garden, or spending time with her cats, who she loved dearly. She showcased her lovely singing voice as a member of an accolades singing group in Walled Lake for many years, and spent time volunteering at her local library whenever she could. She also has fond memories of taking trips to England to visit her daughter while she lived there. Mary was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John and Meneva; her first husband, David Ponder; and her second husband, Robert “Bob” Posont.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Mary will be inurned at the Walled Lake Cemetery next to her husband, Bob Posont, at a later date.
