Michael J. Dell, age 66, of Highland; passed away peacefully with his family by his side on January 30, 2012. Mr. Dell was a Captain for 28 years for the City of Detroit Fire Department. He was a 1968 graduate from Wayne State University. His hobbies included spending time with his family as well as an avid fisher and hunter. Beloved husband of Diane; dear father of Heather Dell, Darin and his wife Sandra Dell; proud grandfather of Nicholas and Brendan Dell. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, February 3, 2012, at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 N. Harvey Lake Road, Highland. The visitation hours will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. along with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 3295 E. Highland Road, Highland. Mr. Dell will lie in state at church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass; interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Highland. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Joe Kocur for Children or Michigan Cancer Society.
