Husband of 40 years to Linda (Ribant) Nathan, father to Dawn, Sarah (David) Gooch, and Joni (Jarrad) Pellerin.
This “jack of all trades” has been a bartender, ski-lift operator, machinist, technical and graphic illustrator, cab driver, transporter of special needs individuals, and a gifted massage therapist.
He enjoyed cars and the Woodward Cruise, tinkering with cars, dreaming about cars, drawing cars and car parts, fixing cars and helping others fix cars.
He also loved his “stint” in the Army of the Confederate States of America when we belonged to a Civil War Re-enactment group. We loved it together, as a family doing primitive camping and living as they did in the 1860’s.
He loved his time as a muzzleloader at Multi-Lakes Conservation club and doing the same at Oakland County Sportsman’s Club. The fun we had at events and fish frys led to great times and great friends.
It is this last occupation as massage therapist that gave him the most satisfaction and fulfillment. He had for years been “rubbing people the right way” and making them feel good and pain free. He finally went to school to do massage and actually get paid for it. It is said that he had healing hands and I have yet to find anyone to disagree. He often helped those in pain and did so free of charge, as he was often happy to just make someone feel better.
It goes without saying that he had a big heart and truly did give a stranger his last five bucks, when he had no idea how he’d pay for HIS gas, the next day. That day, he had given all he had with no concern of himself.
There is a memorial service planned for Mr. Nathan at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Street, White Lake Michigan, 48386 on Thursday, July 24th, 2014 at 11:00 am. Please continue to visit this site to share your thoughts and a memory. www.eltonblackandsonhighland.com
