Michael Anthony Pino
Born 27, February 1943
Michael "Mike", born in Rochester, NY, was the dear husband, high school sweetheart & the love of his life, Susan (Susie) Pino, who went to be with the Lord in October 2014. Married for 51 years, they will join each other in heaven. Cherished father of Michele (Matthew) Manzardo, Tony (Connie), Jon (Melanie) & Lisa (Tom). Papa was loved and adored by his six Grandchildren; Angela, Dominic, Steven, Maria, Mario and Carlo. He would often look for ways the kids could “help” him around the yard so they would earn spending money and learn a solid work ethic.
Michael was the eldest of his three siblings, Carol (Pixley) & the late Albert Pino. His beloved Girlfriend Linda Miller, was by his side for years and they enjoyed many adventures & spending time together.
Michael's strong work ethic enabled a very successful career in retail & sales. After Graduating from St. Mary's High School, Wayne MI, Michael's career started with the Men's fine clothier, Hughes & Hatcher. He started as a shoe salesman and excelled to Director for 25 years. although he was color blind, " he dressed" many Pro Detroit Athletes and News Casters - it worked it was the 70s! Following, he worked with his father in the family Heating and Cooling business for a brief period before returning to his love of Sales & Retail for Taubman Assoc., where he became General Manager of Fairlane Mall. With a deep desire of spending more time with his family and having weekends off, he moved onto a position with Ziebart Corp., HQ in Troy, MI. Where he and again excelled quickly in many positions and finally retiring as VP of Marketing and Franchise in 2014.
Michael’s dream as a kid was living on a lake, in 1971 he & Susie moved from Livonia, MI & purchased their 2nd "forever" home in Lakewood Village, on beautiful Brendel Lake. Mike loved the water and all of the sports & activities that surrounded it. He held positions on the Lakewood Village board on and off for 50 years. He was a great slalom water skier, and taught many kids & adults the sport. He loved to fish, teaching his sons & grandchildren, and won fishing tournaments with them. Mike “gave up” his ski boat for the Pontoon when his first Grandchild Angela was born, and he loved cruising with his family, connecting pontoons together with neighbors, spending time at the sandbar, singing & dancing his boats. Mike loved singing and music, Neighbors often heard Italian, 60 & 70s music blasting from "that" pontoon. He took much pride in his southern facing, sandy beach and spent time raking it and making sure it was perfect for His Kids, Grandkids & friends. In the winter, he always was the first to create a regulation size ice rink, come one come all!. Mike as a young man, was a pre –Olympic speed skater and barrel jumper in New York. He taught all of his kids how to skate a very young age. He as a master at the grill and loved having gatherings at the lake with his family & many friends. He was wise beyond his years and mentored so many friends, neighbors, and colleagues everyone always remembered Mike and his "Pino-Isms" . A Great Man with a Great Legacy !
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 29, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins in White Lake. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at the UNION LAKE CHAPEL of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road in White Lake and Friday at church from 10:00am until the time of the mass. There will be a Rosary Service Thursday evening at 6:00pm at the Funeral Home.
