

Raymond William Aho, born December 3, 1943 and passed away May 5, 2026 was a loving husband to Wilma (Tamm) Aho and father to William (Kim) Bowers of Fairview, MI, Debbie (Brian) Slye of Ontonagon, MI, Randy Aho of Fenton, MI, Cyndi (Roy) Hall of Madison, AL, Kim (Jay) Smith of Fowlerville, MI, Rod (Karen) Aho of Fenton, MI. He was also a grandfather to twelve, great grandfather to twenty and great-great grandfather to one.
Ray “Pops” to everyone who knew him was born and raised in Greenland, MI which is in the UP. After graduating, he moved down state where he hired into Pontiac Motors and worked until he was drafted into the Army, serving two years in the Vietnam War. Upon his return he went back to Pontiac Motors and worked until it closed. He then transferred to the General Motors Milford proving grounds, working midnights. Ray also had a second job driving school bus in order to support his family. He wasn’t a man opposed to hard work. He had even started a firewood business with two of his son’s and that kept him busy. Ray was proud of many things, his Finnish heritage the “Hot House” his name for the sauna that he had in the back yard that he loved and used regularly. He was also proud to be an American and his service in the Army.
Ray enjoyed being outside whether it was just sitting out enjoying sunshine and fresh air, or on his John Deere cutting grass and mulching leaves. It made him happy to just be puttering around. He loved going back to the UP especially in the winter where he would go snowmobiling with family and friends. Pops loved meeting and talking to everyone, making friends whenever he went. He was also very generous, donating to many worthwhile causes, especially Military ones.
Ray was proceeded in death by his wife Wilma, grandson Cody, parents Eli and Lillian, Brother Dennis, Sister Sharon, and Nephew David.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Highland Chapel of the Elton Black and Son Funeral Home, 3295 East Highland Rd., Highland, MI 48356. Visitation will be 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday May 15, 2026 at the funeral home.
